“Armed struggle is not a path revolutionaries chose, but rather it was imposed on the common people by the oppressors” explains the Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro when asked why his guerrilla organization took up arms. 

This week marks the anniversary of the founding of the M-26-7 guerrilla organization in 1953. The revolutionary organization ended up overthrowing the US-backed dictatorship under Fulgencio Batista.
