Better late than never, now in my mid-sixties, I am increasingly trying to focus less on what I am missing out on in my interactions with others, and more on how I can increase others, regardless of how I am being treated. Over my life I can say that whenever I was in a position of dwelling on my preferred treatment in contradistinction to the actual treatment I was receiving, I was never happy. The more I take my feelings of hurt out of the equation, the happier and more peaceful I am.
